As a figurative painter, my practice explores gender and sexuality through the depiction of women, challenging traditional narratives of femininity. Drawing on the visual language of classical art, I reinterpret historical depictions through contemporary perspectives, creating paintings that examine identity, representation, and the enduring influence of art history. Through layering, fragmentation, and the dissolution of boundaries between figure and ground, my work explores the tension between visibility and erasure.

At the heart of my practice is an exploration of the complexities of female experience and the darker undercurrents of societal expectation. By incorporating archival materials, media imagery, and personal references, I bring historical and contemporary narratives into dialogue, questioning how inherited representations continue to shape perceptions of women today.

Increasingly, my practice extends beyond paint through acts of cutting, stitching, and repair. Stitching functions as both a material and conceptual intervention, drawing on the histories of women's labour, domesticity, and textile traditions while disrupting the perceived permanence of the painted surface. The canvas becomes both image and object, where fragmentation and repair coexist, reflecting the vulnerability, resilience, and complexity of the female body and experience.
